Ben Goddard, a once-Boston-native, now LA resident, is our featured photographer for the week. An immediate presence of strangeness can be felt when viewing Goddard’s work. It is difficult to decide the nature of his still lifes and landscapes: are these objects found or created? His scenes are almost too good to be true: who knew cat food could spread across concrete so evenly? I find his self-portrait work, entitled A Stag Not Enslaved, especially compelling. The child-like portraits seem to touch on many subjects: over-consumption, masculine identity, and thoughts on growing up, among others. Please enjoy more of his work here and here.
